This past week Physio has proven to be difficult as Alfie had lost motivation and became so exhausted

This past week Physio has proven to be difficult as Alfie had lost motivation and became so exhausted struggling to participate in a session but today he went above and beyond managing a full hour.
He has done some beautiful side/forward and backward stepping on his high knees with support. Hes also did sit to standing with some awesome stretching while playing a huge connect four. This was impossible a week ago.
The Physio team here like to play lots of games with children which is a fun and clever way of getting them to do Physio without them knowing- I’m also learning a lot too.

Alfie finally finished this lovely piece of art below. This was done through balancing and lots of knee stepping over the week.

His dressing has been taken off today too, his back is looking pretty well considering. Medicines have been reduced- today has been a good day

I’m proud of him everyday but even more so today. 👣👣 I feel I finally have my boy back ☺️

Alfie was told to have the weekend off from Physio so he had loads of fun with plenty of visitors

Alfie was told to have the weekend off from Physio so he had loads of fun with plenty of visitors. Over the weekend mam continued to work on teaching alfie how to get around by crawling properly as this is his only way. Alfie wouldn’t naturally do this correctly.

His hourly physio starts back up from today in hospital so we will try and get pics or vids when allowed.

This next two weeks will be focusing on building Alfie’s strength up in his quads, core strength and glutes before they head home were Physio is more intense, building him back up to 3 sessions a day. 👣👣

Here’s Alfie watching Disney on ice at the weekend. Fab show.

Considering he had a major operation 8 days ago he has been working so hard with Physio for the last 5 days 💪🏼

This is the first time I’ve been allowed to record /take photo of Alfie during a Physio session so I took the opportunity while I could to share it with you guys.

Considering he had a major operation 8 days ago he has been working so hard with Physio for the last 5 days 💪🏼

Although he needed a lot of guidance and support due to being weak I’m very proud of his attitude to continue to plough through every obstacle he faces daily with a smile on his face.

I can’t wait to share his progress with you guys throughout his journey 👣

First thing that we need to concentrate on is for Alfie to gain strength

Now that Physio starts again, the first thing that we need to concentrate on is for Alfie to gain strength.

As expected he has gone back over due to weakness in muscles or lack of muscle, this is normal.

Alfie has been trying so hard to work on his core strength, glutes and quads which all need building up.

This vid shows Alfies struggle. Before the op Alfie had no problems balancing on his knees as well as moving around in that position, as you can see this isn’t possible for Alfie now.

I just wanted to give you all an idea of something so simple now that holds Alfie back for the time being before he can go on to conquering his next battle 💪🏼

Alfie has been released from hospital

Alfie has been released from hospital, he is on meds to help with pain.

He is very weak and needs lots of rest in-between his Physio sessions at hospital. He has no independence at all so his k-walker isn’t an option at the moment. It’s taken him back over, but we expected this.

This is were the Physio comes back in. The vital part. I now need to concentrate on building his strength up to work on his muscles.

I would like to give a huge thank you to his surgeon Dr Goodden and his team at LGI. He is so lovely and together we can change Alfies life. With out his amazing work on Alfie this wouldn’t be possible!! This guy deserves recognition. He changes lives 👣👣

⭐️Happier news this morning ⭐

⭐️Happier news this morning ⭐

Alfie was a little dazed yesterday day but more settled on the evening and managed to get a good nights sleep.
The surgeon and his team believe the pain could have been related to his nerves due to what the procedure entailed. This is been managed with pain relief.

Alfie has a new body that will feel very weird for him so he’s now going to have to get used to this so today Alfie will attend a very simple Physio session. It will involve sitting up on the edge of the bed and playing a board game.

We won’t know the full extent of his body until the next few days… but this is where the hard work starts!

He has been up and down with pain

Morning everyone

We like to keep things as positive as possible because we all know how much Alfie is a happy boy who smiles but last night was so traumatic for Alfie and myself.

He has been up and down with pain, last night it took a turn for the worse and no amount of meds would work, in the end the doctors had no choice but to sedate Alfie which instantly knocked him to sleep because of the dosage as they were worried he’s damaged his back due to how distressed he became.

This morning we have to wait for the surgeon and the neuro team to come around and check his back and try and find out what the problem is.

It’s doesn’t look like he will be released from hospital and more than like won’t be able to start his first Physio session due to last night.

I just want my baby back to himself. Pain does awful things and last night it wasn’t Alfie we were dealing with.

Please keep him in your thoughts

Suffering at the moment

Good morning everyone

Alfie moved wards yesterday and the epidural wore off pretty quickly leading to Alfie really suffering. The pain he was in was unbearable at times causing lots of tears for him and his family- it was very distressing time. The doctors gave Alfie as much pain relief as possible and he soon nodded off.

His face has been swollen but it looks a lot better today.

We are hoping he’s more settled today and the pain is finally under control so we can get him up and moving out of bed tomorrow where the hard work starts.

It hasn’t been an easy journey but we are still so grateful for this one and only opportunity to change Alfies life.
We promise you, we will do just that together.

Thank you to everyone for your support.

Special visitor

Alfie has had another visitor today, the lovely Matt and his daughter.

Matt match funded £1 for £1 generously giving Alfies fund £16,000.

Today Matt brought Alfie lots of gifts which was very kind of him! They’ll definitely keep Alfie entertained.

Alfie has now been moved to another ward until Monday where he will then be released after his first Physio session.

Here’s a picture of Alfie beating Matt for a second time 🙊 that smile is here to stay 👏🏻
